Honor Magic V2 Is The Thinnest Folding Smartphone In The World

The Honor Magic V2 has officially arrived on the European market and is ready to redefine the benchmarks for foldable smartphones. So far, we have looked at the foldable world with extreme curiosity but found ourselves in our hands with bulky and heavy devices or as thick as a couple of devices at a time.

Instead, with its latest flagship model, the Chinese group has decided to veer towards ultra-thin to offer unparalleled functionality and an elegant and sophisticated design, starting from the production process and the selection of materials. While on the one hand, it celebrates the official launch of its device on the European market, on the other, it announces a new exclusive collaboration with Porsche for a special edition projected towards luxury.

How Is New Honor Magic V2 Made?

For the first time, with the Magic V2, Honor has used a titanium alloy for the hinge cover, a material usually used in the aerospace sector, which constitutes a pioneering innovation in the design of foldable smartphone hinges. Titanium has the ideal balance between weight and strength, being lighter than aluminum and more robust than steel. This is specially developed by Honor, to be used in the main body of the Honor Magic V2 hinge, making the phone 25% thinner and 20% more resistant than the Vs2 version.

You Can Bend It 100 Times Daily, And It Won’t Break

The redesigned hinge support structure is significantly improved over its predecessor, with thickness reduced by as much as 75 percent and the depth of bend marks on the display reduced by 47 percent. Additionally, one of a kind, the hinge features an advanced “clamp” damping structure composed of seven sets of cams that ensure a more stable and elegant experience with smooth opening and closing.

A refinement that allows the phone to resist more than 400 thousand folds – you can practically fold it 100 times a day, and it will still last up to 10 years. Net of this light and thin structure, Honor Magic V2 also hides a 5000 mAh battery capable of easily lasting for two days of use and an Ultra-thin Bionic VC cooling system capable of maintaining optimal performance and ensuring long life.

Honor Magic V2 Is Ultra-Thin But Also High Performance

What else do we find? A 6.43 inch 120 Hz OLED screen, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip with 12 GB of RAM and 256 or 512 GB of internal memory, and a 50-megapixel primary camera is accompanied by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide angle and tele 20 megapixels with 2.5x optically stabilized zoom. Therefore, considering the complex design needs and overall depth, it is a respectable photographic sector.

Yes, because once closed, the question of the overall thickness is the absolute icing on the cake. Thanks to a series of improvements in materials, manufacturing, and hinge structure, as well as the innovative design of the cooling system and a series of sophisticated thinning techniques, Honor Magic V2, has achieved an exquisite ultra-thin form factor of 9.9 millimeters and a weight of 231 grams.

In short, foldable screens can compete with the current offer and surpass traditional flagship smartphones in elegance, lightness, and thinness. This landmark achievement hastened the arrival of a new era in the smartphone industry, heralding the foldable screen as a game-changing innovation for future generations.

The Special Edition, In Collaboration With Porsche

Then there is the special edition of the luxurious Porsche Design Honor Magic V2 RSR: in this case, Honor’s technology allies itself with the purist aesthetics that have always distinguished Porsche Design. The result is a flying line of the rear part of the smartphone inspired by the legendary bonnet of the Porsche 911.

Furthermore, the scratch-resistant NanoCrystal Shield offers protection of the device from actual top-of-range damage with unrivaled scratch resistance. The Porsche Design Honor Magic V2 RSR will be available in Porsche Agate Gray – although the date on which it will debut on the market has yet to be made official.
