iPhone 15, 15 Pro & 15 Pro Max: Final Update On Rumors

iPhone 15, 15 Pro & 15 Pro Max: Final Update On Rumors

Between iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, here’s everything we’ve heard so far. After reading this article, you should discover a clear picture of the iPhone 15 series by Apple.

The Screen

An iPhone 15 Pro Max and a giant iPhone 15 Plus, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro and the “classic” iPhone 15, with a little more than 6 inches at the withers. But the screens of the future iPhones should be more comprehensive than those of the iPhone 14. We are only talking here about a few tenths of an inch at most, so the change will not necessarily be visible at first glance.

On the other hand, it is indeed on the brightness side that users of the iPhone 15 Pro Max could be surprised: the mobile has a chance of reaching two thousand five hundred units of maximum power. Enough to allow use in direct sunlight without problem. As a bonus, other rumors announced that the iPhone 15 could be twice as durable, thanks to stronger glass designed by Corning (the Victus 2).

The manufacturer’s Gorilla Glass windows have already been fitted to the front of Apple mobiles for many years to combat scratches and shocks. The touch screen, for its part, is entrusted, in particular to subcontractors Samsung, BOE Electronics (to a lesser extent) and LG Display. Brands whose reputation is well established and which have, in any case, already been seen on board previous models.

Dynamic Island For Everyone

Not to stray too far from the subject, we also learned that Apple would ultimately offer its Dynamic Island to all owners of high-end iPhones released at the end of 2024. Of course, we must consider this information with particular caution because the Cupertino giant has not confirmed anything officially. However, multiple patents and leaks validate the file, which, therefore, seems more and more likely. Eventually, we could even be entitled to a collection of smartphones with cameras and Face IDs under the screen, but not before 2027.

Improved Performance On iPhone 15 Pro

Now, let’s move on to performance. In all likelihood, the iPhone 15 Plus and the “classic” iPhone 15s will be equipped with the same chip as the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, namely the A16 Bionic chip, already very efficient today and which will probably not go out of fashion by then with the same amount of RAM under the hood. But for the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max (or iPhone 15 Ultra, as you wish), Apple would have planned a more efficient motherboard, which we probably imagine called the A17 Bionic chip.

Expect +30% for benchmark results, but only a little. With this, analysts are banking on the arrival of Wi-Fi 6E to offer a better connection at home, as for the most recent MacBook Pros and iPads. As for 5G, the clues still point to a modem designed by Qualcomm, as before.

The Thorny Question Of USB-C

Recently, the European Union decided that all smartphone brands that sell their devices on the Old Continent must offer the same socket for charging. The chosen format is USB-C. A technology already favored by Apple for its Macs or its iPad Pros, and which could, therefore, ultimately replace Lightning on the iPhone. But here it is: it turns out that, in reality, our leaders have imposed a deadline to get up to speed. This corresponds to the end of 2024, which, in theory, will allow Apple to wait for possible iPhone 17s to Comply with regulators’ rules.

Despite everything, numerous stolen photos suggest that USB-C will arrive on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro, but something specific is still being determined for the moment. In any case, it seems that if this is true, you will need to have an MFi-certified cable to benefit from the fastest energy transfers; the same goes for files. It’s a practice blocked by the European Union there, too.

No faster charging?

Besides, speaking of charging, we have yet to hear of any significant improvements for the next iPhones, except regarding the arrival of the Qi 2 standard for wireless. However, we assume that reverse charging will be included, but only for the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. With this, all models could be equipped with battery life to last longer than the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro. The USB-C port will also be used for data transfer, with Thunderbolt 4 technology up to 40 Gbit per second.

A New Design!

As far as design is concerned, the 15 Pro could be a little thicker than expected, although the prominent rear photo module would lose some weight despite a change in layout. The width and length of the case, however, would stay the same, but since the screen will undoubtedly be more significant, the bezels surrounding it will be reduced. We note a significant makeover at the level of the buttons, which would switch to fully tactile (like Touch ID on the third-generation iPhone SE) without the traditional physical volume controls.

Compatibility with gloves would be provided.  Still, for the edges, these would also be more rounded, which would completely clash with the sharp edges of the iPhone 14. Finally, recent bets are betting on a brand new dark red color, as well as a green, and the back of the iPhone 15 would be made of frosted glass. An additional button would also be included, like on the Apple Watch Ultra with the one called Action.

Let’s end the design chapter with a change that is announced as less visible but very important: weight. The 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max would be the lightest “Pro” iPhones in Apple history. Mark Gurman predicts a weight of 185g for the 15 Pro model (21g less than the 14 Pro) and 216g for the 15 Pro Max (34g less than the 14 Pro Max).

Improved Camera On iPhone 15 Pro

Beyond the external appearance, everything led us to believe that future standard bearers will be equipped with a “periscope” lens, the format of which would take up less space than today while allowing a better zoom, perhaps up to x5 in optics. But ultimately, we would have to wait for the iPhone 16 Pro. LiDAR, now manufactured by Sony, would also be revisited for augmented reality and more successful night shots, thanks to an aperture capturing more light. In terms of definition, it would be forty-eight megapixels on the clock for each model.

Storage And Finishing

The iPhone 15 could be available in 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB and the 15 Pro in 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB. Regarding the finishes offered, according to the latest rumors, here are the choices that the Californian firm should provide buyers with:

  • iPhone 15 and 15 Plus: 5 or 6 finishes, blue, yellow, orange or green, black, pink and white
  • iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max: green, gray, blue, and silver
